Meanwhile, Grant began to pace back and forth. He was flustered, utterly flabbergasted. Not only was the equipment and boat ruined, but so was his teaching career. They would no doubt never let him near a boat again or a classroom. He had to make sure he could keep Adam and Jane safe; it was the only shred of hope he had left of maintaining an, at least, credible record. Not only that, but Jane was also his prized student. Without her, he’d be lost right now.

He turned to the others. “Jane, Adam. Go to the left to look for scraps of wood while me, Sasha, and Patty go right. Sheet metal works too. We need to repair the Oceanic Titan while we still can.”

“I’ll stay behind, help Caplin and Blaine,” Patty offered.

“No way, lady. You’re stuck with me. I have more questions about our friend out there.” He turned to Sasha. “You can stay, keep guard for them.”

Sasha nodded and began towards the boat.

Adam and Jane went left as instructed while Patty went straight ahead.

“Where are you going? I said to the right!” Grant was seething.

“Relax, I just need to go get something.” She didn’t slow her pace.

Grant was struggling to keep up. He was going to be forty this year and he was already feeling it.
